A primer on Interconnectivity

I’m so happy to have you join me in this journey of Interconnectivity. For those who have read prior Substack articles I’m so excited to bring you along into this newest iteration of my writings. I’ve shifted the articles into a newly made section called Fertility, Miscarriage, and Grief. I poured my heart and soul into those articles, and even though there are only 3 of them, the sentiments were weighty, and I know they were matters I needed to explore, unfold, and share. Thank you for reading those. And for those who are just joining in now, I find this word comes up often in my work as a healer. With this word, I think of the brain (cortical hubs), bicycle wheels (spokes), fascia (connective tissue), interpersonal dynamics and relationships, and I think of how our emotions can influence our body (and vice versa). Anyone who has heard me speak (in a bodywork session, on a podcast, or with any consults or courses I’ve taught) has inevitably heard me say something like, “Your right kidney misalignment? That’s from your tongue tie.” Or, “Your lower esophageal valve misalignment is coming up as an underlying cause of the Shingles you’re dealing with, yet that valve is seemingly reflecting an issue that started right before you were born.” Another one that comes to mind: “You know the headache you have? It’s not yours. It’s from your friend. She just had dental work? Her jaw pain is manifesting as a headache in you because of your empathy.” In that last instance, I took the opportunity to provide guidance in how the person in front of me could release her headache on her own without my hands-on bodywork to illustrate the purpose, perhaps, in her feeling her friend’s pain empathically. She not ony did that; she also carried out the next step, which was to relay to her friend the experience she had in order to provide support and validation for her friend’s pain.
